Our Impact and Recognition

Since June 2016, we have provided legal assistance to over 35,000 refugees in Greece and Poland. Of the people we assisted in Greece, 74.5% were granted asylum, compared to a national average of 48.4%.

Social Impact Case of the Year - 2024

In October 2024, we had the honour of receiving the prestigious Social Impact Case of the Year - Europe award at The Legal Benchmarking Group Social Impact Awards EMEA 2024 for the Ukraine Pro Bono Collaborative (UPBC).

The 2024 LexisNexis Pro Bono Award

We had the honour of being awarded the LexisNexis 2024 Pro Bono Award for the Ukraine Pro Bono Collaborative (UPBC), a joint effort with Allen & Overy, Bird & Bird, Dentons, Hogan Lovells, Norton Rose Fulbright, and White & Case. The UPBC aims to provide high-quality legal assistance to Ukrainian refugees. We extend our gratitude to everyone involved, whose contributions have enabled us to assist over 7000 individuals since we started in Warsaw in August 2022.

Best Pro Bono Initiative

The Ukraine Pro Bono Collaborative (a collaboration between ELIL and six international law firms) has received the award for Best Pro Bono Initiative at The Lawyer European Awards (2023).

ELIL and the Greece Pro Bono Collaborative were selected by LawWorks as the recipient of one of their prestigious awards celebrating outstanding achievement in pro bono.

ELIL has been granted the 2020 Rule of Law Award by the International Association of Lawyers (UIA) and LexisNexis. This award recognises organisations and individuals actively contributing to the development and promotion of the rule of law.

2019 Pax Christi International Peace Prize

ELIL has been awarded the 2019 Pax Christi International Peace Prize. Pax Christi International was founded in 1945 to promote peace. It annually awards its Peace Prize to individuals and organisations across the world for their outstanding commitment to peace, justice and non-violence.
