Securing Access to Pension Rights
Marko and Eva (*fictional names) are an elderly couple from Ukraine. They are both recognised as refugees in Poland, and contacted ELIL looking for support accessing their pension. Although they had both been working for over three years in their new hometown, the process of upgrading their retirement pensions proved far more complicated than expected.
After months of unclear and inconsistent communication with the relevant authorities, the couple began to fear they were being treated unfairly or in a discriminatory manner. Confused by official letters and unsure how to proceed, they turned to ELIL for legal support.
ELIL’s lawyer supported them to understand correspondence from the administration. The team also assisted Marko and Eva by drafting necessary documents, and communicating directly with the authorities, over the phone and in-person. Over several months and multiple interactions with the administration, ELIL helped clarify the procedures and helped Marko and Eva follow all the necessary steps.
In the end, the couple were paid their pensions in full. ELIL’s support helped them navigate complex procedures, restore trust in public institutions, and secure their rightful pension benefits with clarity and confidence.
