Volunteer

The team in Lesvos consists of long-term Greek lawyers and shorter term volunteer lawyers from other European countries. These lawyers work on a pro bono basis, though their expenses are covered.

The team in Lesvos also includes two volunteer legal assistants.

How to become a volunteer lawyer?

Lawyers who would like to volunteer should meet the following criteria:

  • Able to spend a minimum of three weeks in Lesvos;

  • Training and/or experience in Asylum Law and the law of international protection;

  • Proficiency in English required.

We are currently welcoming applications from potential volunteer lawyers for the period 1 December – 31 December 2018. Please do not hesitate to get in contact if you would like to apply for a period outside these dates.

Priority will be given to lawyers who can stay for a longer period of time.

How to become a legal assistant?

We also welcome applications from prospective legal assistants (including German referendare). Legal assistants who would like to volunteer should meet the following criteria:

  • Able to spend a minimum of one month in Lesvos;

  • Training and/or experience in Asylum Law and the law of international protection preferred;

  • Proficiency in English required.

Priority will be given to applicants who can stay for a longer period of time.
